Data Centre Backup Generator Diesel Fuel Control System
Data Centre Backup Generator Diesel Fuel Control System
The Fuel Control System is necessary to facilitate the operation of diesel generators in the event of a power loss. These
generators ensure the data centre has a continuous uptime to support global network traffic, server operations and
remote storage for clients. ACE was responsible for the filling and draining of the diesel supply tanks to support the backup
generator subsystems.
The scope consisted of two independent systems using Phoenix Contact PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to
facilitate the fuel transfer from a dual bulk tanks configuration into two separate generator day tanks. The redundant
system uses duty assist measures to support the parallel transfer system. This ensures fuel reaches each generator in
the event of a system or equipment failure.
