Case Study
Koodaideri Substation Control Systems Engineering
ACE undertook Koodaideri substation control systems engineering for the Rio Tinto Iron Ore mine development in the Eastern Pilbara. The greenfield project included a 220/33 kV substation designed to supply mining operations, the airport and supporting infrastructure.
Koodaideri substation engineering scope
ACE’s responsibility covered configuration of three key components:
- An ABB RTU560 remote terminal unit.
- The local SCADA server.
- A Cisco CGS2520 Ethernet switch.
The equipment formed part of the substation’s control and communications system. ACE began its work on the project in March 2020.
Controls for mining power infrastructure
The scope brought together the remote terminal unit, local supervisory system and network switch. These components support the control system interfaces within the substation.
This project demonstrates ACE’s work on electrical infrastructure for a new mine development. Its focus was the configuration of control and network equipment for the 220/33 kV installation.
